Activity 1

This is the simple circuit, it was the first one I made. This was my first attempt seeing if the light would light up, but it didn't. I took away one of the battery, because I realized it was unnecessary, and maybe that's why it didn't work. I realized that wasn't the issue when I tested it again. I got some feedback from my peers, and realized the conductive tape wasn't connected properly, because the sticky side was not conductive, so I taped on bits of the conductive tape, and taped it on the edges where it didn't connect to connect them, but that didn't solve the issue either. I got more feedback from my peers, and realized the light was flipped, and there was a shorter and longer end of the metal wire which indicated if it was negative or positive. After making all those changes it finally worked. I went onto the next one and created series circuit, and that also did not work first try. After getting feedback from my professor, I found out for this one you needed both batteries to power the light because one alone was not powerful enough, and it worked. Here is a photo with both batteries taped on. I went onto the parallel circuit here, and decided to bend the tape instead of taping on the flip side of the conductive tape to make the corners connect, but something was still wrong with it. I taped on the conductive tape in case something was not connecting, but that didn't do anything either. I completely re-did it. I tried it with just one light to see if it would work, and it did work. I taped on the second part of it. I finally made the parallel circuit work. I tried creating the tool to find what objects are conductable, and I started by sewing one side of the fabric. I couldn't see it very well because the conductive thread was silver, and the fabric was grey, so I restarted and switched to a bright turquoise colour. Here I sewed on the light. Then I sewed on the other side of the light. And here I added the pouch for the battery, and the conductive fabric to connect it, but it didn't work, I'm not sure why. Here i tried using the different type of light given to us in class, and it didn't work. I tried switching the battery for a cleaner one because the other one seemed to have glue on it thinking that was the issue on why it wasn't lighting up, but this didn't work either. I realized there were 3 individual lights, and I had placed all 3 of them, which resulted in the negative and positive ends not connecting. Here is where it finally worked.
